SUMMARY: Serves as a key contributor to the Communications department, responsible for bringing the organ, eye, and tissue donation cause to life via community, communications, and marketing initiatives. The Senior Specialist is responsible for developing innovative strategies and tactics in these areas, and executing those strategies and tactics with precision and impact. Support and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to organ and tissue donation.


Strives to continually elevate the department’s performance by (1) mining for target audience insights, and uncovering program learnings, (2) leveraging those insights and learnings to ideate and build new approaches, and (3) executing the new approaches across all areas (community, communications and marketing).

Develops, manages and executes community annual strategies and related programs and tactics. Responsibilities in community are divided in-part by strategy, programs, and geography.

Initiates and builds relationships with community influencers (business leaders, government leaders, etc.), as well as with donation community advocates (individuals and groups)

Develops, executes and optimizing guerilla marketing efforts, enrollment drives, presentations, installations, and other disruptive/buzz generating tactics.

Develops a comprehensive Community strategy, program, and tactic performance tracking and analysis which may include survey execution and development.

Responsible for story ideation, mining, and research. The Senior Specialist will initiate pitch development and follow through with Media relations including Press Release/alert assistance.


Contributes to the development of marketing strategies, programs and tactics such as, but not limited to, advertising creative, media buys, and digital/social initiatives.

Contributes to the development and execution of brand-building strategies, programs, and tactics included, but limited to, the LiveOnNY Report, Brand Book, hospital-focused campaign.

May lead, coach, develop and manage daily responsibilities of reports.

REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Ideal candidates shall hold a Minimum bachelor’s preferably with a focus on marketing or related area of study and ten years of community, marketing and/or public relations experience with progressively increasing responsibility.

Demonstrated success in the of development and execution of community, communications, and/or marketing programs essential. Experience creating and executing annual strategies and a History of working with all levels of professionals including C-suite required.
Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office and Outlook required.

Ability to work a flexible schedule. May be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, feature articles, and informational materials. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
