Manage day to day operation of the 24/7 Donor Center which includes tissue screening, authorization and coordination for tissue recovery and organ allocation. Coordinates tissue procurement and organ allocation efforts in pursuit of maximizing the number of tissues recovered, organ allocated and transplanted. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies for tissue and organ recovery and allocation. Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to organ and tissue donation.
Participates in administrative on call responsibility to ensure efficient operation of donation activities. Acts as a staff resource for real-time problem solving and administrative questions related to donation efforts.
Regularly monitors the status of ongoing cases and receives report on new cases to ensure that workload is distributed evenly among the donor center staff. Reviews cases before turnover to ensure accuracy in screening.
Ensures adequate staffing coverage 24/7 for donor center.
Monitors individual, team and call center results to identify and act on performance trends to insure attainment of performance goals. Advises manager of potential issues and follows up with coaching related to staff performance, as directed.
Maintains detailed and current knowledge and understanding of the criteria for consent issues and tissue donation and the mechanisms used to determine a potential donor’s suitability. Ensures that donor coordinators are fully informed of all new information related to criteria and donor suitability. Serves as a resource for staff in all aspects of the donor referral, screening, consent, and allocation processes.
Assists with training new staff and performs ongoing staff training and competency evaluations. Maintains training records for donor center staff.
Ensures compliance with LiveOnNY’s policies, FDA, AATB, affiliated tissue bank, AOPO, UNOS and NYS DOH standards. Gathers and interprets data to identify quality indicators to improve performance. Ensures that chart reviews are completed including local and import donors for accuracy in real time as well as for the final review,
Updates, implements and evaluates policies and procedures related to the Donor Center.
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in health related field with three to five progressive supervisory experience in a clinical area. CTBS certification or eligible or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Working knowledge of continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes and knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and function required. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
