The Director of Family Services: is responsible for planning, development, and evaluation of the Family Services Department. This includes providing administrative oversight, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation and refinement of the Family Services Coordinators (FSC) and the Donor Family Services department (DFS). The Director actively fosters an organizational culture that is based on collaboration, support, and constructive feedback. Provides input as needed into policy development, performance management and other organizational decisions. Ensures that LiveOnNY is in compliance with all applicable laws. Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to tissue and organ donation.

 

*This is an in-office role.

Responsibilities

Responsible for Administrative oversight, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of FSC team. Focuses on workforce management; the development of professional skills, training needs and job satisfaction. Provides annual performance evaluations and maintains fluency in applicable company policies.

 

Oversees development of an ongoing consent training program for FSC’s (and TC’s, as needed).

 

Develops and oversees FSC team meetings for the purpose of debriefing, case study, skill enhancement, peer support.

 

Maintains accurate and up to date consent statistics for each FSC, reviewing donor and referral activity to ensure quality of practice and level of service in relationship to expected goals.

 

Ensures that proper documentation is maintained by FSC’s in accordance with AOPO Accreditation Standards and adherence to DFS departmental policies.

 

Ensures that the After-Care services are provided in a timely, professional, and sensitive manner and that appropriate documentation is maintained.

 

Establishes dependable, supportive, educational, and informative communication between LiveOnNY and the donor families on a consistent basis for the first 18 months following the loss of a loved one.

 

Implements methods for evaluation and review of frontline staff performance. This includes on-site observation, coaching and case review.

 

Departmental services include, but are not limited to, Disposition letters, Initial psychological/social support call, facilitation of letters and direct contact between donor families and transplant recipients, providing medical updates to donor families upon request and Grief Counseling referrals.

 

Develops program content and assures implementation of Social media communication tools, annual Donor Remembrance Ceremonies, Donor family participation at the NKF Transplant Games/Donor Ceremony, Donor Family participation in Rose Parade decorating days, Memory boxes distribution and donor quilt participation.

 

Represents the organization at professional organizations, government, national and international forums. Serves as a spokesperson for the consent process and the advancement of organ and tissue donation.

 

Participates in the business development of LiveOnNY as it pertains to Hospital Services including, but not limited to the annual budget process, business continuation, corporate compliance and new business development.

Qualifications

A four-year degree in behavioral sciences, life sciences, psychology, thanatology/theology, social work or equivalent work experience required.

Master’s in social work preferred.

 

Minimum 5-7 years working with grieving families required.

 

Experience with donor families or organ donation preferred.

 

This is an in-office role.

Salary Range: $153,000 -$190,000
