This is a field role.

 

The Family Support Field Manager is an essential part of the family service management team and is expected to think and work as a professional, which includes the ability to clearly communicate and confidently lead the family support advocate team. This includes the day-to-day oversight, development, maintenance, and evaluation of the family services advocate team. The field manager is an active participant in the growth of the department and is accountable for helping reach organizational goals. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices for family conversations and authorization in the field and telephonically.
  • Responsible for real-time, in person field support to family service team members on a weekly basis. Provides coaching, mentoring and support and keeps documentation of time with each team member.
  • Maintains accurate and current documentation for coaching, performance improvements, competency, and performance evaluations.
  • Supports authorization specialist with development of an ongoing authorization training and onboarding programs for FSA/TC.
  • Works closely with Administrators on Call to ensure effective and efficient allocation of FSA staff, to optimize authorization outcomes and family support.
  • Works closely with the director of family services and authorization specialist to develop and deliver education for family service team meetings for the purpose of debriefing, case study, skill enhancement, peer support.
  • Collaborates with the director of family services to keep accurate and up to date authorization statistics for each FSA, reviewing donor and referral activity to ensure quality of practice and level of service in relationship to strategic goals.
  • Ensures that proper documentation is maintained by FSA/TC in accordance with Regulatory Standards and adherence to family service departmental policies.
  • Maintains current knowledge in the field through participation in NATCO, AOPO, The Alliance, AATB and related professional organizations.
  • Responsible for supervisory and performance management for the family support advocates. Provides team building opportunities within the family support team and within all of Operations departments.
  • Can be assigned to help cover the field during high activity times. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in social work, nursing, psychology or leadership. Equivalent work experience required. Minimum 5-7 years working with grieving families required. Experience with donor families or organ donation preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, directors.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate effective crises intervention skills, professional knowledge of death, dying, grief and bereavement and cultural sensitivity. Strong and effective interpersonal skills in order to provide effective service to medical and non-medical personnel in a variety of health care settings.

 

Must be able to travel within our Greater New York service area (NYC and surrounding counties).

 

This role requires frequent travel (valid driver license and own vechicle) and ability to commute to different hospital partners within our service area

Salary Range: $ 110,000 - $138,000
