The Senior Clinical Director plans, directs and provides oversight of daily clinical activities relating to clinical staffing and performance management. Maximizes donor potential while maintaining the highest clinical and ethical standards. Works closely with Family Services, Hospital Services and Organ Recovery Services departments to continuously optimize the donation process and improve outcomes. Develops relationships with hospital personnel, in conjunction with the Hospital Services staff as needed, to ensure the timely identification and referral of potential donors.

 

Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to organ and tissue donation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees donor management assuring adherence to clinical guidelines, CMS, and UNOS policy with the highest ethical and professional standards. Oversees the collection of all required clinical data for internal reporting and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures appropriate clinical staffing schedules inclusive of field and AOC coverage to support daily field activity and case volumes.
  • Directly supervises the activities of the Clinical department by assuming accountability for performance and careful adherence to procedures, protocols and regulations. Reviews parameters regarding individual donor suitability.
  • Collaborates on the development and maintenance of procedures and policies related to entire clinical donation process. Participates in the development of capability continua for clinical staff and ensures that staff are evaluated according to these capabilities. Assures appropriate training and collaborates in the continuing education programs for Clinical department.
  • Continuously monitors and improves systems to ensure high quality and to maximize donors and the number of organs procured.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of the Clinical Manager and/or Transplant Coordinator on an as needed basis.
  • Functions as an integral part of LiveOnNY’s senior management team developing policy, planning, and managing the organization. Assists in establishing organizational and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that all documentation in the Clinical Services department is accurate and in compliance with standards, including assurance of confidentiality.
  • Functions as an active member of departmental leadership. Facilitates the clinical department and clinical manager meetings..
  • Participates on Medical Board committees, e.g. Medical Board, Kidney-Pancreas Committee, Infectious Disease, and Liver Consortium as needed.
  • Acts as a spokesperson for the advancement of organ donation.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of five to seven years’ managerial experience as an OPO Clinical Manager of Transplant/Procurement Professionals. Bachelors’ degree in nursing, biology or medical sciences from college or university. Master’s degree preferred. Active CPTC with a minimum of three years critical care experience required. Previous experience working with regulatory agencies required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and presentation skills required. Knowledge of the principles of quality improvement, professional education, as well as critical care and transplantation. Good platform and interpersonal skills. Ability to teach, train and work as a team member. Must be computer literate.

Salary Range: $150,000-$160,000
