The Electronic Medical Record: Plans, implements, manages and evaluates systems and procedures necessary to ensure LiveOnNY staff has access to hospital-based electronic medical records and the public health information exchange. Works with individual hospitals, health systems, the Regional Health Information organization (RHIO) and LiveOnNY staff to ensure access while ensuring integrity, confidentiality and security necessary to facilitate the process of donation. Clearly communicates access plans and progress to internal/external stakeholders. Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to organ and tissue donation. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develops and manages an organizational plan with partner hospitals/systems and RHIO for direct access to electronic medical records (EMRs). 
  • Establishes methodology for initiating system access using the support of Hospital Services Specialist to gain access to key hospital personnel.  Works with specified hospital departments (IT, Regulatory) to design and implement mutually agreed upon EMR access pathways.  
  • Collaborates with stakeholder team to address and allocate access needs. Presents plan and strategy to hospital IT professionals. Works with management to develop remote access protocols and best practices for EMR utilization.  
  • Develops, documents and implements specific requirements of each hospital/ system and RHIO for allowing access.  
  • Proactively troubleshoots customer service problems to ensure staff issues are resolved promptly assuring continuity or restoration of access. Identifies improvement opportunities. Serves as Liaison between hospital/RHIO and staff for EMR related issues.   
  • Maintains accurate and current status reports on complete and pending availability of access by institution. Reports status, as needed.  
  • Maintains active LiveOnNY users and terminates access when no longer necessary. Ensures set up and disabling of access of users including changes to user’s security roles and profiles.  
  • Conducts orientation and training of new staff, as appropriate, in access of hospital-based EMRs and RHIO.

  • Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Qualifications

 

  • B.S. in business, information technology or other health related field preferred. Hospital Information systems experience required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a strong attention to detail. Excellent communication (oral and written) skills required. Must be a highly organized, resourceful and proactive individual who seeks solutions independently. Experience in identity access management, Internet security practices, HIPAA and project management preferred.
  • Must possess proficiency in computer software (Microsoft Office Suite) and experience working with hospital EMR software.

Salary Range: $52,000-$64,000
