The Clinical Manager:Promotes the donation of organs for transplant via network hospital identifiers and those who notifies; depending on availability of staff and complexity of the circumstance, may supervise and/or engage in donor management with hospital; coordinates the acquisition and placement of organs; responsible for advancing public and industry awareness of organ and tissue donation. Performs all the duties and responsibilities of the Transplant Coordinator on an as needed basis. Establishes and implements LiveOnNY's financial and fiscal policies and programs. Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to organ and tissue
donation.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Serves as resource to team members when they are on call to assist with donor assessment and evaluation, obtaining consent from next of kin, donor management, organ placement, recovery of organs and tissue, etc.
  • Reviews feedback on donors and donor process to improve quality of the process as warranted. Coordinates findings with transplant coordinators and staff from other areas.
  • Coordinates, with team members, arrangements for organ donation with hospital for Operating Room scheduling, surgical team for recovery of organs and tissue, operating room nurses for surgical support, labs for analysis and surgical recovery team for preparation packaging and transport of organs.
  • Accepts referral calls and assigns staff insuring appropriate staff utilization.
  • Works with other departments to assure team members complete documentation of all activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of the Transplant Coordinator on an as needed basis.Participates, as needed, in organ recovery process in Operating Room to provide Operating Room hospital team support, monitors donor and anesthesiology and assures that teams have what they need.
  • Participates in recruitment, interviewing and hiring of new Transplant Coordinators.
  • Develops relationships and supervises the development of relationships with hospital personnel, in conjunction with the Hospital Development Staff, to ensure the identification and referral of potential donors.
  • Supervises Transplant Coordinators including recommendations on coaching, terminations and performance evaluation.
  • Works with hospital staff to acquire information to assure suitability of potential donors; to provide analysis; to maintain donor in satisfactory condition for donation. Conducts and manages or participates in formal and informal in‑service educational programs with hospital personnel to create awareness and facilitation of donorship; reviews and suggests policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

RN (BSN preferred), BS in biology or medical sciences from college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training, including one to two years as a transplant
coordinator. CPTC with a minimum of three years critical care experience and two years experience in the field of organ and tissue donation/transplantation.

Salary Range: $110,000-$137,000
