The Data Science Analyst assists in the compilation, analysis, reporting, and quality review of all LiveOnNY practices, including but not limited to those related to the call center, organ and tissue referral and recovery, and organ allocation and placement to transplant hospitals. This role involves reconciling data from multiple sources, including the LVNY electronic donor record, call center software, UNet, and DonorNet match runs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Compile data relating to all LVNY activities including hospital referral, case development, organ allocation and organ and tissue recovery
  • Review LVNY activities from a quality point of view reconciling LVNY policy, work instructions and external regulations
  • Develop comprehensive weekly reports tracking key performance indicators, timelines and adherence to process and policy
  • Develop paginated reports utilizing SSRS and dashboards in PowerBI
  • Develop and implement data mining, ETL pipelines, and machine learning models in Python and R.
  • Enhance database performance by optimizing SQL queries and implementing effective indexing
  • Participates in team huddles and collaborative meetings, including meetings with external entities such as CMS, OPTN, and critical vendors/suppliers. 
  • Proactively identifies process improvement opportunities to the Senior Director Data Science, including recommendations driven by Quality Review findings, outcomes, and organizational downstream impact. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a healthcare or computer science–related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in data mining and analysis using Python or R.
  • 2–4 years of experience in business intelligence reporting and data visualization using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Proficient in developing and optimizing SQL schemas, data dictionaries, and indexing strategies to support efficient data management
  • Proven experience in data management, including records, systems, and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analysis and develop high-impact reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management and business development skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines and implementing process improvement models.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across all organizational levels. 

Preferred

  • Experience with Azure data architecture tools, including SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Data Lakes, Azure Synapse, and Elastic.
  • Programming experience with JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
  • Familiarity with data governance software such as Collibra or Purview

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals and documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write simple communications and documents. Ability to effectively present information to co-workers, the general public, and management.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Salary Range: $79,000-$98,000
