The Donation Operations Education and Training Manager manages the design, delivery and continuous improvement of education programs for a federally designated Organ Procurement Organization (OPO). This role is responsible for managing the development of a prescriptive learning framework that aligns with regulatory requirements and organizational strategy. The Donation Operations Education and Training Manager is expected to adhere to all organizational policies and applicable regulatory obligations, stewardship of resources, confidentiality, and ethical conduct, and to devote all professional time to the performance of the responsibilities of this job description and remain available to fulfill management responsibilities inside and outside standard business hours as LiveOnNY’s needs dictate.

 

Work Environment: 

LiveOnNY’s Corporate Office is the default work location for all employees.

 

Responsibilities

Instructional Design & Curriculum Development

  • Apply adult-learning theory and evidence-based instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, agile) to create engaging training across multiple delivery formats (in-person classes, simulation, e-learning, micro-learning and blended learning). The Donation Operations Education and Training Manager shall design and oversee comprehensive education that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory requirements in partnership with departmental subject-matter experts (SMEs).
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to translate technical processes (e.g. potential donor referral, potential donor suitability, family engagement and authorization conversations, organ recovery logistics, quality assurance) into accessible training materials. Provide guidance on learning objectives, sequence, and assessment techniques.
  • Collaborate, establish and manage instructional standards (templates, branding, evaluation rubrics) to ensure consistency and quality across all learning platforms. The Donation Operations Education and Training Manager serves as one of the organization’s subject-matter experts for education.

Needs Assessment & Gap Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments by analyzing performance data, regulatory requirements, survey results and interview insights. Identify skill and knowledge gaps at organizational, departmental and individual levels to ensure training addresses employee performance needs.
  • Develop gap-analysis reports with actionable recommendations. Recommend training interventions or job-aids aligned with strategic objectives and regulatory mandates.

Learning Pathway & Competency Framework Development

  • Collaborate in the design of progressive learning pathways and competency frameworks for each role. Create roadmaps that outline onboarding, competency milestones, continuing education, and leadership development.
  • Collaborate in the development and management of certification-preparation programs and credentialing processes, including demonstration-based competency evaluations. This role collaborates with the SMEs in the development of simulation-based learning and training.

Measurement & Evaluation

  • Define success metrics and evaluation methodologies (for example, Kirkpatrick’s levels of evaluation, return-on-expectation/ROI). At the direction of the SME leadership only, collect quantitative and qualitative feedback to evaluate training effectiveness. The Donation Operations Education and Training Manager role emphasizes reviewing feedback and quality metrics to adjust programs accordingly.
  • Produce quarterly and annual reports for senior leadership and SMEs, summarizing program impact, compliance status and recommendations for continuous improvement. Revise curricula based on findings and emerging industry best practices.

Documentation, Compliance & Audit

  • Maintain detailed documentation for all training programs: curricula, lesson plans, assessments, attendance records, and learner evaluations. Manage and enforce record-keeping standards to ensure accuracy and traceability.
  • Monitor training-related corrective actions and document completion.

Technology & Administration

  • Administer and optimize the learning management system (LMS), ensuring course libraries, learner profiles, training assignments and reports are accurate. The Donation Operations Education and Training Manager helps oversee the LMS, curricula design, competency evaluations, and issuance of any certificates related to training completion.
  • Contribute to the selection, licensing and utilization of instructional design tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, SABA, Captivate) and collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams, SharePoint). Manage the departmental calendar to ensure timely delivery of instructor-led classes, webinars and simulations.

Qualifications

Experience

At least seven years of experience designing and delivering learning programs in a healthcare or regulated environment, with four or more years in a content and context management role. Experience must include extensive expertise in developing regulatory-based curricula, conducting comprehensive needs assessments, and managing Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support organization-wide training and compliance initiatives.

Adult learning expertise

Demonstrated knowledge of adult-learning theory (andragogy), instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Agile) and performance improvement methodologies. Must be able to translate complex clinical processes into effective training.

Technical proficiency

Proficiency with LMS administration, course-authoring software (Articulate Storyline/Rise, SABA or similar), collaboration tools and Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with simulation and e-learning technologies.

Compliance

knowledge Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting clinical operations (CMS, OPTN/UNOS, OSHA, HIPAA, HRSA, NYS) and the ability to ensure training programs meet these standards. Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting Organ Procurement Organization is preferre

 

Preferred:

Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in instructional design, adult education, human resources, health sciences or a related field is preferred, however, relative experience will be considered--LVNY values practical skills gained through experience as they often demonstrate readiness to perform job duties better than a degree alone.

Professional certification

Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP/CPTD), Certified Training Professional (CTP), American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) or similar credential.

Healthcare

experience Experience working within a hospital, transplant center, an OPO, or other regulated healthcare organization, with knowledge of organ donation and transplantation processes.

Technology & analytics

Familiarity with AI-driven learning solutions, adaptive learning technology and data analytics to personalize learning and predict performance improvements.

Salary Range: $93,000-116,000 annually
