Overview

SUMMARY

 

The Training Specialist is responsible for the delivery, facilitation, and execution of education and training programs that support donation operations performance, workforce readiness, and regulatory compliance within a 24/7 clinical environment. This role delivers high‑quality training in person and virtually, supports competency validation activities, and ensures accurate documentation of training completion within the Learning Management System (LMS).

The Training Specialist partners closely with Education leadership, Instructional Designers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and operational leaders to deliver consistent, standardized, audit‑ready training aligned with CMS OPO Conditions for Coverage, OPTN/UNOS policy, and applicable federal and New York State requirements governing OPO operations.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Training Delivery & Facilitation
  • Deliver instructor‑led and virtual training sessions for donation operations staff and related stakeholders, following approved curricula, facilitator guides, and training standards.
  • Facilitate learning using adult learning principles, interactive techniques, case‑based discussion, and scenario‑driven practice appropriate to a high‑risk clinical environment.
  • Support onboarding, role‑specific training, annual refreshers, remediation, and targeted educational interventions as assigned.
  • Adjust facilitation approach as needed to support diverse learner groups, clinical roles, and experience levels.
  1. LMS & Training Administration
  • Execute training assignments within the LMS, including session scheduling, enrollment, attendance tracking, and completion reconciliation.
  • Ensure training records, sign‑in documentation, and completion data are accurate, timely, and audit‑ready.
  • Run and review LMS reports to monitor completion, identify gaps, and follow up on overdue or incomplete training.
  • Support troubleshooting of learner access, enrollment, and completion issues within assigned LMS permissions.
  1. Competency & Regulatory Support
  • Support competency validation activities, including skills check‑offs, simulations, observations, and documented assessments where applicable.
  • Reinforce regulatory expectations, approved workflows, and policy requirements during training delivery.
  • Ensure training delivery aligns with current, approved policies, procedures, and regulatory guidance; escalate content discrepancies or concerns through established channels.
  1. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with Instructional Designers to provide feedback on course effectiveness, learner performance, and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Collaborate with SMEs and operational leaders to ensure training delivery reflects real‑world practice and operational expectations.
  • Collect and communicate learner feedback to support continuous improvement of training programs.
  1. Operational Support
  • Support a 24/7 donation operations environment; occasional evenings, weekends, or off‑hours delivery may be required.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, ethical conduct, and compliance with all organizational policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, Healthcare, Organizational Development, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience delivering training “on platform,” including instructor‑led and virtual training in a professional or healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering standardized training in a regulated or performance‑critical environment preferred.

Training & Technology Skills

 

  • Experience facilitating in‑person and virtual instructor‑led training, including use of virtual classroom tools.
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), including course enrollment, attendance tracking, completion documentation, and reporting. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint).

Instructional & Interpersonal Skills

 

  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clinical and non‑clinical staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly related to documentation and compliance tracking.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Experience supporting clinical education, donation/transplant workflows, or other time‑sensitive healthcare operations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks affecting OPO operations (CMS, OPTN/UNOS, HRSA, OSHA, HIPAA, New York State requirements).
  • Experience supporting simulation‑based training or competency‑based assessments.

Salary Range: $60,00- $89,000
